General Photography Questions

What is in-home photography?

In home photography means I come to you! I’ll bring my camera and select gear to capture natural, relaxed moments in the comfort of your home. No need to travel with your baby bump or newborn.

What types of sessions do you offer?

I specialize in maternity and newborn photography. You can book these separately or as a bundle for a discounted rate.

How far in advance should I book?

Maternity sessions are best booked in your second trimester and scheduled for 28–36 weeks. Newborn sessions should be booked during pregnancy and are typically scheduled for within the first 7–14 days after birth. If you miss this timeframe then all is not lost as baby photos at 3-4 months are all smiles and eye conact which is absolutely worth capturing.

Newborn Session Questions

When is the best time to do a newborn session?

Ideally within the first two weeks of birth as babies are still sleepy and curled, which is perfect for gentle posing and calm cuddles. Morning sessions starting at around 10am is the ideal time of day.

What if my baby is fussy or doesn’t sleep?

That’s okay! Newborn sessions are slow-paced and baby led. We take breaks for feeding, soothing, and whatever your little one needs.

Do I need to clean or prepare my house?

No deep cleaning needed! I’ll find the best light and tidy just the areas we’ll photograph. Natural, lived in homes photograph beautifully.

What newborn props do you have?

I have a newborn posing pillow with neutral blankets, and a selection of newborn outfits in natural fabrics. Please feel free to bring your own outfits or meaningful items to add.

Maternity Session Questions

When should I schedule my maternity shoot?

Between 28–36 weeks is ideal, when your bump is showing nicely but you're still relatively comfortable.

What should I wear for my maternity session?

Soft, neutral tones work beautifully in home. I have a small wardrobe including dresses, chunky knits, robes. Comfort is key!

Logistics & Delivery

What areas do you serve?

I’m based in Whitstable and serve families within 10 mile radius. Travel fees may apply for further distances.

How long do sessions last?

Maternity sessions typically last 1 hour. Newborn sessions range from 1 to 2 hours to allow time for breaks and feeding.

How many images will I receive?

Packages include a set number of edited high-resolution images, 5 or 20+ for maternity and 5 and 30+ for newborn.

When will I receive my photos?

Final edited galleries are delivered within 2–3 weeks. I’ll send you a private online gallery for viewing and downloading.

Health & Safety

What are your hygiene practices for newborns?

I wash hands before and during the session, use clean blankets/props, and never force baby into uncomfortable poses. Your baby’s safety and comfort are my top priorities.

Rescheduling & Policies

What if my baby arrives early or late?

No problem! I leave flexibility in my calendar for this exact reason. Just let me know as soon as baby arrives so we can adjust your session date.

What if someone in my home is sick?

Let me know and we’ll reschedule, no fees. Your family’s health is more important.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Deposits are non-refundable but transferrable. Sessions can be rescheduled with at least 24–48 hours notice.
